Program areas at Eye Care for Kids Foundation

Eye Care for Kids provides free vision Care to houston-area school children in pre-k through high school. In the pastyear, Eye Care for Kids sent vision screeners to 202 schools and community centers to test the vision of more than 25,979 students. Through a directed referral program, Eye Care for Kids helped 2,030 uninsured low-income children receive free Eye exams and glasses from a doctor near their home or school. This volunteer doctor donates the exams and Eye Care for Kids donors and Foundation support help to underwrite the cost of the frames and lenses. In 2015-2016 Eye Care for Kids piloted an online application process to speed and ease the referral program. The full launch took place in september 2016.
