Program areas at Faith in Action Fund
Flipping the formula and voter engagement: Faith in Action Fund's "flipping the formula" is an innovative voter engagement approach that centers people of color in electoral participation. This program is dedicated to expanding access to voting, challenging restrictive laws like voter id requirements, and closing racial and generational gaps in voter turnout. Through targeted non-partisan voter registration, education, and mobilization efforts, we empower historically marginalized communities to assert their political power. We work closely with our federations to develop strategic voter engagement campaigns, ensuring that every person has the right to vote and that every vote has equal value. These efforts are instrumental in holding elected officials accountable to the communities they represent.
Federation support, capacity building, and base building: this section highlights Faith in Action Fund's commitment to supporting federations through financial regrants, including a specific regrant to granite state interfaith Action Fund, along with capacity-building and coalition-building activities. These resources empower federations to lead impactful local organizing on issues such as economic justice, criminal justice reform, and immigration. By prioritizing regrants, we strengthen grassroots organizations nationwide, enabling them to engage in non-partisan civic participation that addresses the unique needs of their communities. This ongoing support allows federations to expand their reach, increase their base, and establish sustainable power structures that advocate for systemic change at local, state, and national levels.
Political leads and leadership development: Faith in Action Fund trains and supports people of color and other emerging leaders as key political strategists. This program is vital to developing a new generation of leadership that reflects and understands the needs of diverse communities. Participants receive intensive training in campaign management, narrative change, and voter engagement strategies, equipping them to drive meaningful change within their communities. This leadership pipeline not only strengthens individual capacities but also builds a sustained, community-driven base of power capable of influencing gubernatorial, congressional, sheriff, and prosecutorial races. Political leads plays a crucial role in amplifying voices from communities of color, fostering leadership that stands for justice, equity, and the common good.
