Children Rising nurtures and equips children to rise above the challenges created by generations of poverty, violence, and educational inequity. The Careerbridge program integrates mentorship, business essentials workshops, and paid internships to create or widen education and career pathways for disadvantaged youth. Succeeding by Reading is an intervention program that opens up the world of reading to elementary school children who are far behind their expected grade level proficiency. It provides one-on-one tutoring sessions with trained volunteers.

Program areas at Children Rising

Succeeding by reading - the succeeding by reading intervention program is designed to open up the world of reading to elementary school Children who are the farthest behind their expected grade level proficiency. Succeeding by reading provides one-on-one tutoring by trained volunteers, school library support, and at-home support through take-home book bags.
Careerbridge - careerbridge brings together three critical modules needed to help create or widen education and career pathways for disadvantaged youth: mentorship, business essentials workshops and workplace experience through paid internships. Through careerbridge, oakland high school students explore career options and develop professional skills by working closely with caring professionals.
Path2math - path2math is closing the achievement gap by helping bring elementary students up to grade level in math. One-to-one tutors work with students who are struggling in math to help give them a strong foundation of skills and build confidence in math.
Familybridge - familybridge partners with families who have Children enrolled in our tutoring programs. The goal is to enable them to develop the skills, confidence, and tools to accelerate their child's learning and advocate for their vision of their child's academic growth.
