Families and Work Institute (FWI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization that studies the changing workforce, family and community. As a preeminent think-tank, FWI is known for being ahead of the curve, identifying emerging issues, and then conducting rigorous research that often challenges common wisdom, provides insight and knowledge. As an action-tank, we conduct numerous studies that put our research into action and then evaluate the results. Families and Work Institute's purpose is to create research to work, learn and live by.

Program areas at FWI

Child, family and community programs - The Institute's Work includes a long commitment to focus on early learning and The implications of what we know about early learning for teacher and classroom quality and early childhood system design. The Institute also focuses on The development of broad scale communications campaigns to share early learning research with a wide range of public and private sector audiences.
Outreach programs - The Institute created its outreach programs to provide detailed and customized presentations, as well as publications and materials produced out of our research findings, for all types of audiences, including employers, employees, academic institutions, businesses, child caregivers, community groups and parents. There was no activity for this program in 2022 but The Institute expects there to be activity in 2023.
Work life programs - The Institute is dedicated to providing objective information on changes in The workforce and workplace in order to inform decision makers in government, business, communities and Families. Toward that end, The Institute conducts its own nationally representative research studies, as well as studies of employees of leading companies globally. There was no activity for this program in 2022 but The Institute expects there to be activity in2023.
