Program areas at Family Connection

Family Connection's main purposes is to provide emergency shelter for individuals and families traveling to sioux falls to visit an incarcerated loved one to help reduce the recidivism rate. The hospitality suite provided 110 guest night stays during the fiscal year. Family Connection also provides transitional housing for women that are on parole or probation to help reduce the recidivism rate. Hope house provided 999 days of lodging during the fiscal year.
Family Connection provides group therapy through the children's Connection program to children that have/had an incarcerated loved one to help break the intergenerational cycle of incarceration. Children's Connection facilitated 745 group sessions, with 3,967 child contacts in four middle schools and eight elementary schools in the sioux empire during the 2023- 2024 school year. Support materials were also provided to an additional 201 children that were unable to attend the weekly group sessions.
