Family Connection and Cis of Wash

Family Connection held community collaborative meetings quarterly to plan for events and share community resources. Drug Take Back Day was hosted in partnership with the Washington County Sheriff's Office with over 20 pounds of prescription drugs collected and turned over to the DEA. Two Resilient Teen cohorts were facilitated in collaboration with Augusta University Medical students with 9 middle and high school students participating. Family Connection staff partnered with Washington County Sheriff's Department Residential Substance Abuse Treatment program within the local jail. The program served 22 incarcerated males. Family Connection was responsible for teaching identified classes and assisting participants with connecting with their children and strengthening those relationships. A Teen Maze was presented with community partners to 250 high school students to emphasize the dangers of drinking/texting and driving as well as information regarding teen pregnancy prevention.

The organization is no longer an affiliate of Communities In Schools.

Youth Empowerment Project which is funded by Workforce Opportunity Innovation Act served 6 out of school youth and 6 in school youth to develop work skills and attain educational goals. Educational goals included high school diploma or GED. Participants gained work experience through local business partnerships.
