Program areas at Family Housing Advisory Services

Tenant Services: homelessness prevention, rental counseling, Housing assistance, and advocacy work to assist individuals and families to avoid homelessness and locate permanent Housing.
Home buyer education: prepares consumers for the home buying process through monthly, 12-hour workshops or an online pre-purchase education course. One-on-one counseling, credit report review, follow-up support counseling, and mortgage documentation review assistance. Provides one-on-one counseling and advocacy for persons who are currently delinquent or imminent default on their mortgage loan. We assist with negotiating their loan terms, modifications, deed-in-lieu of foreclosure, and short sales with their lenders.
Financial education: provides financial education, matched savings (as available), budgeting, credit and savings, and coaching through one-on-one counseling, follow-up support counseling, and credit history review assistance. For adults and also to youth transitioning out of the foster care system.
Earned income tax credit coalition: provides quality volunteer tax return preparation, leverages community partnerships, and works to create strategies to improve savings for low- to moderate-income families. Fair Housing center: provides comprehensive fair Housing Services, including intake and investigation of Housing discrimination complaints, fair Housing consumer and industry education, and training statewide in nebaska and iowa.lake point: facility owned and operated by Family Housing Advisory Services, providing rental units to nonprofit organizations.
