Program areas at FWOCGA
Family Wellness Outreach Center of Georgia continues to thrive serving 15 counties in southwest Georgia with over 20 community partnerships. Through the organizations sexual risk avoidance program the organization achieved the following: awarded $20,000 mini grants via our partnership with the united way of southwest ga and their teen mental health coalition. In this relationship, we conducted trainings for their participants. We partnered with over 10 community-based organizations to provide services to more than 300 community members providing information, back to school supplies, Family engagement tools and a variety of other items to inform and educate the community. Through the services of our youth action team, we hosted multiple events throughout the reporting period centered around suicide prevention awareness, world aids day, and red ribbon week. This allowed us to serve over 600 youth with our youth led engagement activities.
Family Wellness Outreach Center of ga (Fwocga) is to build healthy families and communities through Outreach, education, prevention, and intervention services that promote partnerships and builds development towards total Wellness in key areas-economical, educational, physical, social, behavioral, personal, mental, occupational, spiritual and health Wellness. We have hosted workshops/seminars that over 200 parents have attended to encourage healthy relationships, communication skills, and financial literacy. Fwocga has cultivated over 50 partnerships throughout southwest ga and the border states and has worked with youth as young as five and adults of all ages.
Funded by the bureau of justice administration, Family Wellness Outreach Center of Georgia implemented the success for life reentry program that has a goal to reduce recidivism rates by at least 25% among returning citizens. The program aims to serve at least 102 adult participants who are at highest risk for reoffending in 14 southwest Georgia counties. The primary objective is to improve employment services and connections by implementing job readiness assessments, individualized case plans and employment related services that will result in improved employability skills, employment attainment and retention. The program works in community collaboration with key support from the Georgia department of corrections, department of community supervision, goodwill industries and over 20 other referral-based partners that provide supportive services.
