Program areas at Far Away Friends
Global Leaders Primary School: Support for the daily operations of a model Primary School and Teacher Training center in Namasale, Uganda including classroom needs, education, daily meals, housing for 500 students, teachers housing and infrastructure development. This program also provides teacher training for district-area teachers in our Sister Schools network.
School Outreach Program (aka Schools for Schools): Through this program we partner with local government schools to enhance learning environments (WASH resources & capacity building) and improve student outcomes in Amolatar District, Uganda. This program additionally provides mentorship and leadership skill development through our Skills for Life classes to over 1,500 students and our Girls Empowerment Workshops and also trains girls at local schools on sewing re-usable sanitary pads. Students in United States are also impacted by this program through our Far Away Friends Clubs pen pal program and Global Citizenship trainings.
Far Away Friends Uganda Operations: Support for the operations of the Far Away Friends Uganda Community Based Organization fueled by local leaders in Uganda to help carry out our mission on the ground. Grants are made by Far Away Friends USA to our local partner to support gainful employment for all in-country staff and leadership in Uganda.
Cultural Immersion Trip Program: This program was designed to help youth from the USA and UK to learn about Ugandan culture and become Advocates for Education through an immersive trip experience.
