Program areas at Fargo-Moorhead Curling Club

The organization's purpose is to promote the sport of curling, to provide a facility to participate in the sport, to increase the participant's skills and to conduct bonspiels and other competitions. The organization had approximately 700 members during the current fiscal year. There were a total of 12 full year leagues for the current year including 2 men's leagues, 2 youth leagues, 4 open leagues, 2 novice leagues and also 1 league for women. A mixed doubles league was added during this fiscal year. There also was a part-year league for 5 - 9 year old's so they could try out curling at a younger age.(Continued on Schedule O)The Organization hosted various sessions including Hit/Draw/Tap (a program for youth), "Learn to Curl" sessions, as well as curling lessons and open curling. Throughout the year a few groups from various organizations came in to learn about curling, including students from area schools. There were three Mini-Leagues in place. These leagues are six weeks each in length - to allow new curlers to get a feel for a league and to see if they enjoy the sport of Curling. We had children's wheelchair curling held as a group event this year instead of as a 6-week league.During the fiscal year, several bonspiels (tournaments) were held.- The regular Open Bonspiel did return and continue as usual in December 2022.- The "Green" Bonspiel also resumed in January 2023.-A Bantam bonspiel for youth was held during March 2023.-The "Two-Clubs'" Bonspiel in the past was a combination tournament between the Fargo-Moorhead and Sioux Falls, SD curling clubs. Sioux Falls does not have a dedicated ice curling club and wanted to get a feel for the bonspiel atmosphere/experience. Over the years, the "Two-Club's" Bonspiel has turned into a "Five Club's" Bonspiel in which Aberdeen SD, Yankton SD, and Brookings SD were added. This bonspiel was held in March 2023.-The 5 and under National Qualifier Event was held in early 2023. This is a new US Curling Association Event held to help newer members be involved in a competitive event. At least two members of a four person team need five years of curling experience or less in order to compete. This event will rotate being held between USA curling clubs.
