Program areas at Faunalytics
Independent research Faunalytics completed eight original studies and analyses on topics including the animal agriculture industry's perspective on advocates & cage-free reforms, reforming animal agriculture subsidies, a guide for advocates; bringing back former vegans and vegetarians, an obstacle analysis; support for farmed animal welfare legislation in ten key u.s. states, comparing u.s. groups openness to pro-animal actions; jurors reflections on the smithfield piglet rescue trial, understanding industry costs for chicken, egg, and fish products in the united states, brazil, and china and an update to our animal product impact scales. In 2023, Faunalytics original research studies received over 67,000 page views.
Research support Faunalytics works with animal protection nonprofits by helping them with program evaluations and other research. In 2023 we completed one partner project, animal agriculture is the missing piece in climate change media coverage. We provided support to 103 advocates and organizations, offering guidance on research design, strategy, and data-driven advocacy. We hosted fauna connections, a research symposium designed to connect academics and advocates working on animal issues, with over 560 advocates in attendance. In 2023, the Faunalytics research advice center reached over 3,400 animal protection advocates.
Research library Faunalytics published 271 new research study summaries, seven Faunalytics explains videos and 53 blog posts that synthesized research on important animal-related topics. We send weekly and monthly research alerts to thousands of scholars and animal advocates throughout the year. In 2023, Faunalytics collective resources received over 747,000 page views.
