Woman Cradle of Abundance

Educational Activities and Community Support in Kinshasa. Our partner in Kinshasa, Femme Berceau de l'Abondance (FEBA), provides literacy and vocational training (sewing, information technology) for destitute young women. This year it also added a new classroom to the Women's Center to accommodate the new information technology program. It provides assistance for poor primary and secondary students (uniforms, fees for state exams). It also teaches older women to read and write.

Education and Safety. In the province of Kivu in eastern Congo, the Centre de l'encadrement des enfants en difficultés (CENEDI) provides a free primary school called Community Charity for orphans and other war displaced children in Goma. It provides assistance for farming and food and medical support for women and their families in Goma and in the Uvira region.

Entrepreneur/ Economic Independence. In Kinshasa, Femme Berceau de l'Abondance (FEBA) provides marketing and commercial education for poor women, and the opportunity to do microsavings and to borrow microloans. It provides sewing machines for young graduates of the vocation school. It creates clothing and sometimes imports specialty items for sale in its market shop to support its educational and practical ministries. Some of these products are donated to the US nonprofit Woman Cradle of Abundance to be sold for FEBA.

FEBA in Kinshasa also provides assistance for safety and survival to the poor women of its community. This includes food, medical support, counseling and aid for victims of violence.
