Flash, in cooperation with the Federal emergency management agency (fema), provided mitigation information and solutions to communities, organizations, and individuals to increase earthquake mitigation and adopt seismic building code provisions. Primary activities included implementing the business continuity quakesmart program, raising awareness of seismic retrofitting through the earthquakestrong campaign, and leveraging no code. No confidence. Inspect2protect.org resources to promote seismic building codes.
Flash, in partnership with the alabama-west Florida conference of the united methodist church (awfc) and mennonite disaster service (mds), constructed multiple Homes for hurricane michael-impacted families with unmet economic needs. Flash secured in-kind services from fema and various partners to provide engineering and technical analysis expertise to adapt existing mds house plans to meet Florida building codes and the nationally-recognized beyond-code insurance institute for business and home safety (ibhs) fortified program. Fortified gold-designated Homes are constructed to withstand hurricanes, providing families with greater financial security and increased peace of mind.
The national disaster resilience conference (ndrc) brings together the nation's foremost voices in the disaster safety and resilience movement to create and support disaster-resilient communities across the country. The conference showcases the latest multi-hazard innovations in engineering, science, policy, and practical programs. Attendees include leaders, professionals, and practitioners representing various industries and organizations.
