Program areas at Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies
The annual meeting brings together approximately 1,000 clinicians, academicians, and scientists from multiple disciplines and areas of expertise including multiple sclerosis, diabetes, crohn's and colitis, dermatology, and rheumatology.
Focis has the following educational courses: advanced course, basic Immunology in medicine course, systems Immunology course, cancer immunity & immunotherapy course, and basic Immunology in medicine to go. Advanced course invited speakers lecture on the major topics in cellular and molecular Immunology, including innate immunity, b cells, t cells, and cytokines. Special sessions cover new advances in interventional Clinical Immunology and the molecular and genetic basis of immune-mediated diseases. There will be ample opportunity for students to interact with the faculty outside the lecture room. Basic Immunology in medicine course review selected topics in basic Immunology, with emphasis on recent advances and issues that are relevant to the pathogenesis and treatment of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. Systems Immunology course is aimed at scientists involved or interested in the use of multi-dimensional data generated by modern genomics and proteomics technologies such as mass/flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing and microarrays. The course will also provide a better basic understanding of modern statistical and mathematical concepts necessary for their analysis and interpretation. Cancer immunity & immunotherapy course reviews tumor Immunology as the scientific foundation for the current practice of cancer immunotherapy, emphasizing fundamental principles, recent Clinical advances, current limitations, and near-term opportunities for further accelerating Clinical progress. Basic Immunology in medicine to go is an up-to-date, clinically relevant overview of how the immune system functions and malfunctions, presented in a manner that is accessible and of interest to individuals with various levels of scientific knowledge. The course helps industry employees understand the Clinical relevance, mechanisms of actions and potential complications of drugs their companies are developing or marketing in the area of immune/inflammatory diseases.
