the solar project "get lit, stay lit" was created for the purpose of saving food waste during a power outage. In addition to saving food waste, participating restaurants can become a cooling center, a phone charging center, and additional needs during a power outage. This initiative creates job training to learn the basics of solar installation as a post-hurricane safety net for the community.
Saltwater initiative was created in 2023 in response to the potential saltwater crisis. Water filter systems were installed for elders, pregnant moms, and households with children.
Feed the Second Line partnered with winn dixie to develop a shopping list of 500 essential grocery items for culture bearers of our community. A recipient is asked to choose 100 items for a value of around $400. These items are then delivered to their doorstep by volunteers. This is a respectful way to provide customized "food love."
