Program areas at Florida Citizens Alliance
Flca focuses on k-12 education reform in Florida. Flca's program is funded by 2 fundraising events and general donations. Flca is active in legislative interactions, building community teams to influence local public, private and homeschool education and solutions. In our legislative endeavors, we occasionally draft legislation, and have a team that evaluated over 100 education and family related bills in 2023. In our community outreach we mentor local community members to work on k-12 education as teams and provide presentations, action alerts and solutions. In our micor school solutions we promote Florida's scholarships and in 2023 initiated a major solution to help judeo-christian families create microschools. These are funded by two major activities, in march, we host a kids and country gala and in july -mid oct we have a 3 month fundraising event called liberty challenge. Key accomplishments - passage of legislation protecting parental rights and school choice including a scholarship for students that have been bullied to leave public school and attend private school. - multiple impact across the state to remove sexually explicit material. - a Florida supreme court case win for all school districts regarding textbook adoption practices. - substantial growth in our database of 110k to 250k active participants. - creation of local kids-first teams in 4 counties, and leaders in 20+ counties. - hired four full time skilled employees (executive director, micro school program director, marketing director, and a legislative advocacy program manager). - launched our micro school initiative with ten trained ambassadors, 5 god-centric content/service providers and the herzog foundation as partners. - obtained hope scholarships for 100's of Florida students
