Coastal center operations - Florida Oceanographic Society's mission is to inspire environmental stewardship of Florida's coastal ecosystems through education, research and advocacy, situated on 57-acres, the coastal center welcomes over 60,000 guests annually and is home to over 300 animals including 30+ species of fish, stingrays, nurse sharks, and 4 sea turtles. The 26,000 square foot ocean ecocenter includes 4 educational interactive exhibit galleries, aquariums and an exploration lab classroom for daily and special education programs.
Educational programs - educational programs includes coastal center programming, as well as school field trips, group visits, summer camps, and education outreach in the community.
Research & advocacy - research and advocacy programs conduct science to support restoration of local habitat in the st lucie estuary and indian river lagoon by establishing oyster reefs, seagrass meadows, and natural living shorelines.
Other - other programs to inspire environmental stewardship of Florida's coastal ecosystems through education, scientific research, conservation and advocacy
