Floridians for Alternatives To the Death Penalty

Despite significant challenges that included six executions, fadp took major steps forward in bringing attention To the Death Penalty's unjust application and raising the profile of our organization. Immediately upon the announcement of each execution date, we sprang into action To draw attention To the defendant's full life story and To provide an opportunity for the governor To grant clemency. While the executions were ultimately carried out, our work revealed the unjust nature of capital punishment and galvanized support for repeal. All told, we gathered 950 signatures of faith leaders and organized more than 18,000 petition signatures. We also organized or co-organized more than 95 execution prayer vigils across the state (average of 19 vigils per execution), which were collectively attended by more than 800 people. At the vigils, and afterwards with our supporters, we directly addressed the emotional toll executions have on many people, highlighting the Death Penalty's collateral damage. We saw a net increase of 4,108 subscribers To our organization, more than doubling the original number of subscribers we had at the beginning of january 2023. We sent 53 emails in 2023 with an average open rate of 37%. We expanded our social media following.
