Program areas at Focus on Community
Families and schools together (f.a.s.t. ): f.a.s.t. Is an innovative and collaborative prevention and parent-involvement program in which families gather at their schools for eight weekly, evening sessions to participate in specific, fun, research-based activities aimed as strengthening families and empowering agents. The sessions are about two hours long, and include a meal for the families.
The strengthening families program (sfp) is a free parenting and family skills program for families. Families learn how to strengthen their relationships, spend one on one play time with their child(ren), set clear and firm boundaries, and develop healthy family communication skills. The entire family attends the program and practices the skills together as a family.
Extended learning programs: the extended learning programs, in continued partnership with the schools, families, and communities we serve, supports scholastic success and social and emotional development for the youth of racine. We support and help to strengthen and raise students through enrichment programs in the arts, literacy, math, science, culture, health and wellness, leadership training, character development, mentoring, and much more.
Other programs include a teen outreach, sunstance abuse prevention programs, and building family assets.
