The foundation performed the following programs in 2022, largely through grant expenditures: biosafety and biosecurity trainings, and laboratory maintenance, repair and assessment were provided through the scientific technical and engagement partnership (step) and funded by the u.s. defense threat reduction agency (dtra); tackling deadly disease in africa (tdda) focused on building capacity to prevent and respond to disease outbreaks and reinforcing national data and response systems and was funded by the united kingdom's foreign, commonwealth and development office (fcdo). The foundation's efforts towards usaid's infectious disease detection and surveillance (idds) project in madagascar and democratic republic of congo included training, laboratory capacity building and supervision and policy development.
