Food Now / Family Services of the Desert

For FY 2022/2023 the agency accomplished the following: Food Assistance; Agency provided weekly suplemental food distributions for 1,943 unduplicated low-income households living in the western Coachella Valley, including 5,181 individuals, (2,338 adults, 1,226 seniors, and 1,617 children). For FY 2022/2023 the agency distributed approximately 971,551 pounds of food, enough food for approximately 1,250,000 meals. Homeless Needs Program: 544 unduplicated clients reported they had no permanent place of residence. The agency provided 16,640 meals for clients who are unsheltered. Home Deliveries: Approximately 85 households receive home deliveries every week (approximately 23% of the food distributed). Childrens Backpack Weekend Meal Program. Food Now has an MOU with Palm Springs Unified School District to provide chronicxally hungry children with addition meals for the students to take home on weekends.Companion Pet Food Distribution. Food Now provides weekly distributions of pet food when available. Food Now distributed approximately 30,000 pounds of cat and dog food during the FY.
