Program areas at Food Science Club North Carolina State Univ
Community Outreach and Service: FSC conducts activities that encourage development of civic, social, and professional responsibility among members. Furthermore, the FSC has a responsibility to teach and expose the community about the field of food science, such as through presentations at local schools. The FSC has a historical presence at the NC State Fair and interacts with approximately 30,000 people in the greater NC area.
Support Student Research and Merit Scholarships: FSC provides scholarships to student members who demonstrate the greatest service to the club. An endowment, supported by the FSC and private donations, exists to maintain perpetual funds for future scholarships.
Professional Development Activities: FSC conducts programs that expand members' knowledge of food science and create opportunities to network with faculty or industry professionals. This vision is achieved by means of speakers, trips to conferences and food science industry plants, visual aids and other learning materials, and settings to meet leaders in the profession.
