For The Struggle's Elder Response Initiative is specifically focused on combatting displacement associated with gentrification in Charlotte, NC. The Elder Response Initiative is an all-encompassing program whereby we provide any and all services necessary to ensure seniors in historically and predominately black neighborhoods can Age in Place and not be forced out of their homes. The services we provide include free future planning, free assistance with applying for property tax relief, free critical home repairs, access to legal representation for property-related issues, free healthy cooked meals and groceries for seniors living in food deserts in Charlotte.
For The Struggle, Inc.'s Eatmon Project includes a 10 to 12 week curriculum that focuses on educating youth about issues of racial and social justice for purposes of engaging youth to actively educate, empower and engage other members of the community about such issues.
