Instructive components of the program include staff assistance with clients acquiring, retaining, and improving self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills, as well as providing individuals with age-appropriate activities to enhance self-esteem and maximize functional level. In addition, training and support activities promote clients' integration and participation in the community and assist individuals who cannot manage their care needs during day habilitation activities. Participants in our Day Habilitation Program enjoy trips to the zoo, movie theater, bowling alley, museums, Galveston's Ripley Sea Turtle Hatchery, arts and crafts activities, exercise classes, pizza parties, picnics at local parks, rides on the Bolivar Island Ferry, Bar-B-Ques and visits with older adults at a local senior citizen center.
Host Home/Companion Care: Care providers assist clients with grooming, eating, bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene. Participants in this program also receive assistance with meal planning and preparation, housekeeping, medications, ambulation, and mobility. Foster Care Providers secure or provide transportation, reinforce counseling and therapy activities, assist with supervision of recipients' inclusion in community activities, and community services. Participants in the Foster Care Program become part of a family. They enjoy rich and rewarding experiences through social interactions, loving support, and participation in leisure activities. They also receive habilitation and are provided with other assistance to support the development of daily living and independent living skills.
