Program areas at The Vandenberg Coalition

Special projects in 2023 included The gaza futures project, defense expert roundtables, a strategy for victory in ukraine, countering chinese communist party influence around The world, covid-19 origins letter, and drawing public awareness to The chinese-russian-iranian nexus. Gaza futures project: tvc is partnering with The jewish institute for national security of america (jinsa) to draw much-needed attention to The future of gaza and provide well-researched recommendations and proposals to The united states government on different scenarios for a hamas-free gaza. In addition to interviews with current and former u.s. officials, israelis, palestinians, emiratis, and others, participants are traveling to israel to conduct first-hand research to ensure their recommendations are fact-based, practical, and designed with an eye toward both israel's security and The preservation of an eventual peaceful two-state solution. At The conclusion of this project, we will produce a report to share with political leaders and The public outlining The multiple options for gaza's future and recommending a path forward.defense expert roundtables: tvc hosted a series of preliminary discussions with defense experts and former senior department of defense (dod) officials including several former under and assistant secretaries of defense, numerous ses-level former dod political appointees, military veterans, and alumni of The house and senate armed services committees to discuss critical areas of policy reform and potential budget changes for The department of defense. Topics of discussion included recruiting and retention challenges, acquisitions reform, investing in The defense industrial base, and The necessary size of The overall defense budget. Coming out of these discussions, we identified recommendations that would serve The united states to deter, but if necessary win, a potential war with china. These discussions also aided tvc in identifying targeted areas for action in coordination with partner organizations and policymakers while providing an important foundation for tvc's engagement on The ndaa.h: tvc published "a path to victory: a conservative strategy to advance american interests in ukraine," in partnership with experts to explain to The public why u.s. support for a swift ukrainian victory is in america's strategic interest and to offer a conservative strategy to support ukraine in recovering and maintaining--at a minimum--pre-february 2022 territory.countering chinese communist party (ccp) influence around The world series: we believe that it is vital to demonstrate countering china must not start and stop in The indo-pacific--it requires significant effort throughout The world. To help inform The policy conversation and educate members of congress, candidates, and The american public on this issue, we pre-recorded nine discussions delving deep into ccp's global influence campaign. Tvc began releasing episodes biweekly in september on our website, newsletter, and on podcast platforms, with episodes scheduled through early 2024.covid-19 origins letter: tvc released an open letter on The need for accountability and transparency on covid-19 origins in The scientific and media communities. The letter was signed by chairman of The house foreign affairs committee michael mccaul (tx-10), former national security advisor robert o'brien, and dozens of national security professionals and international scientists who joined The call for The scientific and medical professions to remain free from political influence and a bipartisan and balanced investigation into covid-19 origins. Politico and fox both covered The letter, and tvc governance board member, matt pottinger, published a joint op-ed with jamie metzl in The wall street journal calling for a bipartisan commission on covid-19 origins. Following The release of The letter, david feith provided testimony at a hearing for The house oversight and accountability committee's select subcommittee on The coronavirus pandemic.in response to The horrific attacks on israel on october 7th, we jumped into action with two core priorities helping americans understand The nexus to The united states and The threats posed by The alliance between iran, russia, and china, and coordinating among like-minded groups to ensure maximum effectiveness and force multiplication.
