Program areas at Victory Family Services
Victory Family Services supports the transition from foster care to an adoptive placement of children and youth after the juvenile court order the plan of permanency for these children with adoptive families. As part of the support, Victory Family Services conducts the appropriate psychosocial home studies for these families, case management to support the transition, and the post-adoption placement contact with the adoptive Family and children to reassure the child will be welcomed into a nurturing and loving Family. During 2023, Victory Family Services completed two adoptions
Income was used to recruit, train, certify and financially support resource families who provide care, both long and short term, to children who are separated from their parents due to circumstances that include neglect, child abuse and unusual Family situations. The resource parent provides the child with a supportive and nurturing environment until they are reunited with their biological Family.
Victory Family Services offers a transitional housing placement program (thpp) for non-minor dependent (nmd) youth, ages 18 to 21, in kern county. The thpp focuses on helping youth with developing the independent living skills necessary to manage everyday life such as financial budgeting, negotiating relationships in a shared housing setting, planning on career aspirations, and accomplishing the life cycle stages of early adulthood. All participants must be able to live independently without 24-hour supervision. The participants reside in out-of-home placement funded by community care licensing and participate in the kern county department of human Services independent living program. In november of 2022 vfs initiated a contract with kern county department of human Services. The contract is to provide supervised visits for court mandated visits between the biological foster children and their biological parents. This service is for visits that would otherwise be the responsibility of the kern county department of human Services, but they lack the staff to service these needs.
Other revenue was used to help financially support resource families.
