In 2018, the Foundation formed another 501(c)(3) wholly-owned subsidiary, sidewinder films iii, llc (sidewinder films iii), with the purpose of engaging in various programs in furtherance of the Foundation's tax-exempt charitable mission, including producing an educational film, waterman. Waterman shares the mostly unknown story of five-time olympic medalist duke kahanamoku who shattered records and brought surfing to the world, all while overcoming rampant racism in a lifetime of personal challenges. Few outside of Hawaii know the details of this inspiring story and his considerable impact to society worldwide. (conitnued on statement 18)
In 2015 the Foundation formed sidewinder films, llc (sidewinder films), a 501(c)(3) wholly-owned subsidiary, in furtherance of its tax-exempt purposes and charitable mission. Sport is more than simply a type of competition. Sport holds the key to unlocking the triumph of human spirit, mutual understanding, and cooperation and respect among all people. Sidewinder films seeks to bring these positive messages of sport to people through films which touch lives, tell remarkable stories, and create a lasting impact. Sidewinder films produced munich '72 and beyond, an emmy nominated documentary that takes the viewer on an emotional journey from the beginning of the 1972 attack to present-day, where finally healing begins to be witnessed as a new memorial is being built in munich at the olympic park. In 2017, sidewinder films became the sole member of a newly created entity, bed one, llc, which has the purpose to engage in the Development, production and completion (continued on statement 18)
In furtherance of their mission, the Foundation runs a number of awards programs that recognize individuals whose commitment to service exceeds the norm. Gsd's athletes in excellence award was created to recognize athletes who have been role models, leaders and champions not just in sport but in using Sports to promote education and fair play, as well as to fight the use of doping substances, injustice and intolerance. The athletes in excellence award honors athletes who use their achievements in sport as a catalyst to inspire positive change. Our athletes in excellence recipients are acknowledged for their outstanding efforts in community outreach, humanitarianism and youth mentorship. As part of the award, recipients will receive a $10,000 grant, enabling them to pursue their passions and create even more positive change.
