Program areas at FACHE

The Foundation's seminars, conferences, and distance learning programs provide special opportunities for healthcare executives to learn from colleagues at national and regional events. The programs feature speakers who address a broad spectrum of healthcare management and executive leadership topics.
The department of research conducts research in multiple healthcare management areas, including career attainments of healthcare executives and trends affecting the profession. Studies are done through a variety of formats such as surveys and annual reports that explore current and future issues confronting hospital CEOs and the extent of the hospital CEO turnover among other topics. The Foundation conducts research using interviews, surveys, and focus groups of healthcare executives.
Publication of Educational Books and Journals - Health Administration Press (HAP), the publishing department of ACHE, publishes management books, textbooks used in healthcare administration programs at universities, and journals, including Frontiers of Health Services Management and the Journal of Healthcare Management. HAP also offers self-study courses.
The Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Program (EDP) is designed to enhance diversity and inclusion in senior healthcare leadership. The program prepares senior-level careerists from underrepresented groups to ascend to and advance in the C-suite of hospitals, health systems and other healthcare organizations. The Foundation granted a combined total of 15 Albert W. Dent and Foster G. McGaw Graduate Student Scholarships to students in the final year of a full-time healthcare management graduate program. The Foundation also sponsored the annual Richard J. Stull Student Essay Competition in Healthcare Management with awards going to the three graduate and three undergraduate students whose essays are judged the winning entries. The academic program for each of the 1st place winners also receives an award. The purpose of the competition is to stimulate and demonstrate the ability of future healthcare executives to identify and describe important issues and developments in their chosen profession. The Foundation also sponsors the Robert S. Hudgens Memorial Award for Young Healthcare Executive of the Year and the James A. Hamilton Award for book of the year.
