Program areas at Foundational Questions Institute

Contest prizes awarded through fqxi's essay contest program and the community site have allowed the Institute to provide the public with a deeper understanding of known and future discoveries in these areas and their potential implications for our world view. Winning entries from fqxi's contest can be found online, fqxi.org/community.essay.
Scientific consultants and subcontractors - fqxi's team of consultants help run the science programming for the organization and provides editorial and technical oversight for the organization's website, in particular the community site, fqxi.org/community.
Fqxi's grant program helps to redress incrementalism in research programming by establishing or expanding new "islands" of understanding via flexible funding of high-risk, high reward research in these areas. These grant and contest programs are able to expand the purview of scientific inquiry to include scientific disciplines fundamental to a deep understanding of reality, but which are currently largely unsupported by conventional grant sources.
Interest income was the result of temporary funds in a money market account.
