Program areas at Four Rivers Outreach Community Development Corporation
Adventure Summer Camp (Summer 2023). Provide opportunities for students to participate in engaging activities and increase learning, achievement, social, and technology skills. The program was designed for Pre-K (ages 4) through 8th grade.
STEM/STEAM Initiative. Provide an interdisciplinary approach in targeting youth in grade levels 1 through 8 through applying science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and robotics team competition. Also, engage Pre-K through 3rd grade youth with computer coding activities. These activities develop literacy and the ability to compete in the new economy.
Cyber-Seniors Program. Teenagers, young adults, and tech-savvy individuals of all ages are trained to help deliver essential tech support to seniors. Volunteers experience participation in group technology training (either as a presenter or part of Team) and provide one-on-one face-to-face tech support to senior citizens. The program teaches older adults how to use necessary communication tools like Zoom, Facetime, Facebook, YouTube, play online games, and more. This program is a way to engage seniors in their communities, family, and friends.
Black College Tour 2023. Provided opportunities for students attending upper secondary schools (ages 14-18) to tour Historically Black Colleges (HBCUs) and experience the college environment on a college campus. During Spring Break, the tour visited seven HBCUs. Tour destinations will also include a visited a Civil Rights and Black history Memorials/Mouments. The tour concludes with a full fun day visit to an amusement park.
