Program areas at Freely in Hope
21 scholars funded: in 2023, we funded holistic education for 21 scholars across kenya and zambia. They have made tremendous gains in their academics and are expanding their leadership capacity at Freely in Hope. 54 survivor leaders trained: we have expanded our survivor leadership training to serve survivors in the community across kenya and zambia. Pendos power launched: we celebrated the launch of pendos power, our first childrens book that teaches about body safety and preventing child sexual abuse. 10 women trained in entrepreneurship: our malkia program equips women in prostitution through entrepreneurship and leadership skills to build their dream careers. in addition, we were able to provide donations of professional clothing to help them get a fresh new start 81 counseling sessions: counseling is available to all scholars in our program to support their mental health and promote sustaining practices. The healing journey for survivors requires a holistic approach. 1,623 parents & caregivers trained: we launched linda toto, a new program that trains parents and caregivers to prevent child sexual abuse. We reached 1,623 parents and caregivers across kenya. 534 children reached: we expanded our reach with children and served 534 students across kenya. Our child protection trainings are essential to preventing child abuse and helping children recognize signs of grooming. 23 rape cases referred: our storytelling platforms reach many survivors in our community and as we provide education on prevention, we also provide support for survivors. We linked 23 survivors to aftercare survivors so that they can seek the justice they deserve. 9 survivor-led initiatives launched: this year, we launched 9 new survivor-led initiatives including linda toto, a new program educating parents to prevent child sexual abuse, reclaim, a online survivor support group, and redeeming sanctuaries, an event and online resource for spiritual leaders.
