Program areas at Fremont Archery
Eight Archery Tournaments were held: Two paper target tournaments using National Field Archery Association targets in November and December; a total of 37 youth and adults participated. Two paper target tournaments using United States Archery Association targets in January and February; 51 youth and adults participated. These four tournaments were held at the indoor range in downtown Fremont; we rent the second floor of a furniture store. Four outdoor 3D tournaments were held in April, June, July and August. 374 youth and adults participated. These are held at Camp Calvin Crest per a rental agreement with them. 3Ds are by far the most popular way to reach area archers, especially hunters who want to practice.
Two indoor leagues and two outdoor leagues were held for ten weeks each at the indoor range. One indoor league used NFAA blue & white paper targets, and one indoor league used USAA multi-colored paper targets. Two teenagers and 19 adults competed. Two outdoor leagues were held in the spring and summer at Camp Calvin Crest for ten weeks each. Archers competed at distances of 40-. 50-, and60-yards at 120cm USAA multi-colored targets which are larger than indoor targets making this similar to Olympic competitions. Twenty participated. Note that all classes, tournaments and leagues are open to the general public.
Four 7-week beginner classes and two 10-week advanced classes were held. Beginner classes teach the basics of safety and form and shoot at 7 yards; both adults and youth participate at minimal expense and equipment is available for all if needed. Handicapped scoring insures the most improved participants receive trophies and everyone gets a medal. 57 archers participated in beginner classes. Advances classes are associated with United State Archery Association's Junior Olympic Archery Development program. Both youth and adults participate and earn Achievement Pins as they progress up the scoring scale. Archers shoot at 20 yards, which is the standard for competition. 21 youth and 14 adults participated. Advanced class fee is minimal and equipment is available if needed.
