Capacity building grant: this project provided our organization with the funding that our organization needed to buildout our infrastructure and continue to provide the needed essential supported services that adults in transition needs to be successful following their transition reintegration back into the community. Fresh Start PS will use this funding opportunity to publish our transitional planning curriculums taking charge of your future and your future is in your hands which are two curriculums that has been proven to be promising practices toward successfully transitioning individuals experiencing homelessness sud and or incarceration barriers toward quality living.
Midd: this project was designed for african american fathers who have been involved in the criminal justice system. These fathers face barriers to housing and employment. The goal of our program is to assist fathers with soft skills development employment and housing so they can have a positive impact on the lives of their children and community. This project offered life soft skills training from Fresh Start PS taking charge of your future curriculum with workforce transitional services. The transitional programming includes experience-based curriculum developed by the Fresh Start PS staff: 8 weeks of 2-hour virtual courses in groups of 10 followed by 4 weeks of follow up and curriculum-informing feedback; self-reflection networking smart goals and 6mo 1yr and 5yr plans; and assessments to determine next appropriate steps. Healthier here: Fresh Start professional services nppsc will host ten community healthcare awareness resource fairs over the course of this project. Through these events Fresh Start PS will educate members of the bipoc and reentry communities about ways to understand their physical mental health and how to identify health insurance plans that are best for them and their families. Attendees will also be able to receive on-site acute healthcare services dental check-up blood pressure covid testing and temperature checks in real time with follow-up appointment referrals. Our community members need support and mentorship to achieve their goals for reentry and reduce their chances of further contact with the criminal legal system. These services are most effective when the individuals who are delivering services have similar lived experiences backgrounds and cultures as the participants.
