Friends for Folks uses Oklahoma correctional inmates to train abandoned and abused dogs as companion pets for special needs owners, seeking to heal the inmate, the dog, and the new owner through positive self-worth. Inmate trainers establish a comprehensive dog training program to help those who are incarcerated or impacted by incarceration. They even built a $500,000 training facility at Mable Bassett Correctional Facility. Friends for Folks also distributes Marvin's Shining Star, a children's book, to public schools and libraries in Oklahoma, and produced the documentary Children of Hope.
