In 2023, Barefoot College guatemala achieved significant milestones in empowering rural women from last mile communities and promoting social, gender and climate justice. Twenty-two women were trained in the solar program, resulting in the solar electrification of 475 households in 12 different communities which lack access to energy. The organization also expanded its enrich program, aimed to empower rural women, providing 387 women with skill development opportunities through courses ranging from 20 to 60 hours. Additionally, 30 women completed the coffee & agroforestry curriculum, supporting the growth and resilience of our local coffee cooperative among other activities. To further enhance community sustainability, an agroecology training school was established at Barefoot College guatemala campus in batzul, quich.
