Program areas at Gloria Mark Snyder Hillel Center
Israel - one of the key parts of our mission and vision of the organization is for students to build an eduring commitment to jewish life, learning, and israel. This class includes programs related to hosting events and educational opportunities around israel and one of our key staff members whose sole job is israel engagement and education.
Shabbat - Hillel hosts shabbat at least 15 times annually for jewish undergraduate and graduate students at Stony Brook university. Shabbat is the jewish day of rest - on friday evenings, students gather together for prayer and a kosher dinner.
General programs - this includes programs that are not explicitly included in holidays, engagement, or israel. Examples of programs included here are weekly bagel brunches for students, university welcome week programs, programs for russian speaking students, professional development programs, and more.
Other programs which include staff engagements, peer engagement, jewish university, hanukkah, high holy day, jsa, bagel brunches, passover, other holidays, sukkot, tzedek & wellness, interfaith center, jewish learning, and jlf.
