Program areas at Friends of Meali International

Construction has started on the lucas minha school for 1000 primary school students including pre-k and kindergarten. The school will open in january 2024 and is the first joint project between the tanzanian government and a forign company.
Lunch & scholarship aid to children in and graduates from all three of our rural public schoools: Meali; losirwa; & oldeani. We support a total of 2100 primary school children (pre-k-7), and over the past 10-11 years have subsidized higher education for 800 students.
Construction is continuing of the hope school, a special project of our tanzanian director, a private school in the city of arusha, tanzania that will eventually accommodate both primary and secondary school children. Enrollment is now about 500 students, pre-k though 7.
Teacher support at all three of our rural public primary schools, augmenting the government-provided teaching staff and paying incentive bonuses for all the teachers at school that achieve outstanding results on the tanzanian national examinations for standard 7, which has resulted in a much higher proportion of standens qualifying for secondary school. Provided administartive assistance, transportation and Meali security person.provided water for the community, the lucas minha primary school, and animals. Provided campus improveemnt including classrooms and offices, student centers and campus renovations.
