Program areas at Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center
Medical assistance program: funded medical procedures and special medications for 118 animals including blood panels and diagnostic tests, mass removals, amputations, eye surgeries and heartworm treatments.
Golden paws program: provided funds to offer reduced adoption fees for senior pets and/or senior citizens resulting in a total of 148 adoptions.
Adoption program: provided funds to offer reduced adoption fees resulting in 93 adoptions.
Spay/neuter program: provided monthly program that provides low-income communities the opportunity for citizens of Norfolk to spay/neuter their pets for free. We also provide free rabies vaccines, as well as microchips so that owners are able to track their pets if lost. In 2023, we provided 100 cat neuters, 105 cat spays, 55 dog neuters, 59 dog spays, 254 rabies vaccinations, and 277 microchips. Pet pantry program: provided 3,608 pounds of pet food for naccs mobile pet food pantry resulting in 206 community members and 527 animals assisted. Also, provided 13,489 pounds of food to 586 community members and 1,567 animals assisted through the on-site, shelter pet food pantry.
