Friends of Recovery New York believes that recovery is possible for everyone, that everyone achieves recovery in his or her own way, adequate resources and support are necessary for sustained recovery, and recovery is about reclaiming a meaningful life. It aims to address addiction as a public health issue, treat illicit drug use and personal possession as a health issue, develop non-punitive, non-judgmental recovery service models and create a system that provides access to comprehensive services based on need.
