Founded in 1979, the organization (f.g.m.) Supports the Texas Governor's Mansion, a national historical landmark and the fourth oldest continuously occupied Governor's residence in the u.s. f.g.m. Provides collection management and curatorial services for the Mansion collection, which consists of f.g.m. And state-owned objects.
F.g.m. Enhances the grounds of the Mansion by providing private funds for seasonal plantings and improvements. F.g.m. Raises private funds that help preserve the historic character of the site.
An important goal is to educate the public about the Mansion, its objects, contents, and history by providing publications, a website, docents, and student programs. Programs include educational projects, holiday and floral decorations in the Mansion, and collection acquisitions.volunteer hours for educational projects and holiday decorations = 1050 hours
