Program areas at Jump Cut Theater
Film screenings & events - in 2014, the hollywood Theater presented film screenings of various genres, including classic films, retrospective screenings, matinees of family-friendly films and brand new releases of dramas, comedies and documentaries. Special events included regularly scheduled screenings of the rocky horror picture show with shadow cast by a troupe of young entertainers from the junior chamber of commerce players; concerts by local bands; senior citizen matinees; silent film series including live Theater organ performances; breakfast and a movie series; guest programmer series. The Theater offers affordable ticket pricing and concessions compared to larger chains, which allows more people access to films and events. In addition, the Theater donated space for the annual pittsburgh area Theater organ society meeting and hosted a stop by the Theater historical society of america membership on their pittsburgh tour.the traffic generated by our programs have a measurable economic impact on our community, with businesses around the Theater such as fredo's deli, don campiti's pizzaria, and other seeing more business. In addition, we partner with numerous area businesses on special programs, including north way christian church, dormont main street, minuteman press, cain's saloon, smoke cigar shop & lounge, geek pittsburgh, rickert & beagle books, and more.
Rental program - the rental program provides low cost rates for rental of the Theater for special screenings and programs by area schools for field trips; to non-profits for fundraisers; and various community group meetings. Rentals in 2014 including the 48 hour film project and 48 hour horror film project, both of which offer short film competitions for independent filmmakers; kid city dance party, a dj/dance new year's party for children; numerous non-profit fundraising events; free family holiday film sponsored by north way dormont church; concerts and independent film premieres.
