Program areas at Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra
Education programming: legacy programs include kinder konzerts (42 years) and the young artist competition (60 years). Accent/meet a musician provides an up close and personal evening with an Orchestra musician or other prominent individual associated with music. Kinder konzerts has several components - kinder konzerts in Orchestra hall, kinder konzerts on the road in an elementary school -a multi-day residency tying music to literacy for kindergrten and first graders, out an about (a program for libraries or preschools, a "mini kinder konzert"). Also available is kinder konzerts in a box/in a bag.
Membership involves keeping members informed and engaged throughout the year with regular communication and activities. These membership activities include electronic and social media communication, feedback questionnaires and surveys, mailings, events with other arts organizations, an annual report and meeting and directory.
Engaged activities include working as "guides" with kinder konzerts in the sound factory, various committees including fundraisers, membership and development. Software to track volunteer hours, development of membership and training materials and conducting training sessions. Included in this category is the direct financial support provided by Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra to the Minnesota Orchestra.
