Description
Friends of the Pelicans works to protect Florida's seabirds through various programs. Their Pier Rescue Program involves paying a wildlife rescue individual to man busy fishing piers for 40 hours per week to prevent seabird entanglement. Thanks to this program, over 1500 seabirds are rescued each year. They also have a volunteer program called Mangrove Monitors that involves volunteers monitoring bird rookeries for entangled birds with access to the water. Hundreds of seabirds are rescued each year through this program. Friends of the Pelicans is located in Bradenton, FL.
