Program areas at Friends of the Sawtooth National Forest Avalanche Center
Winter 2022/23 accomplishments: funds raised by the Friends of sac directly support the Sawtooth Avalanche Center's operations. We provide about 50% of the sac's operating budget. Last year, this allowed them to observe thousands of avalanches, issue 138 public backcountry Avalanche forecasts, and investigate four Avalanche incidents, the most in sac history. Last year, we also delivered 59 Avalanche education presentations, reaching more than 2,700 individuals, and sac forecast products received over 500,000 views.
