Friends of WLRN

During the year, the organization managed WLRN tv and WLRN radio on behalf of the miami-dade county public schools, the licensee, according to a media management agreement which commenced on july 1, 2022. The organization completed a strategy plan with goals to grow awareness and reach and to increase financial support. During the year, the organization raised approximately $11,000,000 and made grants of approximately $2,400,000 to wlrn-tv and wlrn-fm radio stations, both of which are owned by the miami-dade county school board. In addition to the grants, the organization paid approximately $3,600,000 in expenses to south Florida public media company in order to support WLRN news activities. These amounts were used by the stations exclusively for carrying out their exempt purpose.
