Program areas at Friendship Baptist Center
-Conversational English Classes: Educational program offered to non English speaking or beginning level students whose primary language is not English. The goal of these classes is to provide community members with opportunities to increase their language capabilities and to ultimately gain English competency and fluency. Childcare is provided to students while they are in class.- After School Kids Club: Educational program offered to children and youth during after school hours which follows the academic school year. The purpose of this ministry is to offer educational support to children and youth, while also offering an opportunity to learn about biblical principles. Nutritious snacks are provided as well as an evening meal.- Summer Camp: Summer Day Camp is held on site, at the Friendship Baptist Center and is open to individuals ages 4-17. Summer Camp is a mixture of music, recreation, crafts, and Bible Study. Snack and lunch is provided daily. Summer Camp is scheduled by the week and is typically held 4-7 weeks during each Summer.- Community Breakfast: Each Tuesday, a breakfast is available to the community from the neighborhood surrounding the Friendship Baptist Center. In addition to this time of eating breakfast, individuals are offered personal hygiene items, diapers for children and bread. The purpose of this ministry is to build relationships and offer kindness and assistance with staple items.- Food Distribution: Monthly, the Friendship Baptist Center offers groceries to the community. Individuals, within the Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood, are given the opportunity to come and shop for food items, at no cost.- Saturday Supper: Approximately eight to ten times each year, the Friendship Baptist Center will provide a community meal, the last Saturday of the month. This supper is provided at no cost to the residents of the community. The goal of thisministry is to provide needed food and to build community relationships.- Life Skills Classes: The Friendship Baptist Center leads a variety of Life Skills Classes at various times throughout the year to the residents of the community. These classes include, but are not limited to: Budgeting; Parenting; Cooking; Workout.Mom's Support Group; Grief and Loss Group; Etc.
