Program areas at Full Plates Full Potential
John t. woods innovation fund:in memory of our late co-founder, Full Plates Full Potential launched the john t. woods innovation fund to provide larger, seed investments to big ideas around breaking down barriers to child nutrition programs. In its second year, Full Plates awarded 3 organizations a total of $85,000 to fund their innovative ideas that included piloting Maine's first culinary boot camp, installing technology to communicate menu options in multiple languages, and supporting the creation and implementation of halal-certified school meals.
School breakfast grant program:full Plates Full Potential awarded $53,454 in funding through the school breakfast grant program to 12 school districts in Maine. Grant funding supported innovative ideas or tried and true best practices, such as breakfast after the bell, to enhance breakfast access and increase the number of students participating in their school breakfast program.
Summer meals grant:full Plates Full Potential awarded $495,635 in funding through the summer meals grant program to 54 school districts and community organizations across Maine. Grant funding supported adoption of established and emerging best practices around increasing participation, including opening new meal sites, launching or expanding alternative meal service models (such as meal pick-up, bulk and/or multiple meals, transporting and delivering meals to children at home), and partnering with other community organizations or institutions.
