Program areas at Fundacion Antilles
Project PRoTechos award, which is a 501(c)(3), Puerto Rico 1101.01 and CECFL-approved non-profit, economically assits their dual mission of rebuilding damaged roofs in under-served communities throughout the island while providing residents with basic carpentry training, addressing both housing needs and the shortage of skilled construction workers in Puerto Rico. PRoTECHOS rebuilds roofs with the help of volunteers, skilled carpenters and trainees, drawn from community residents who are willing and able to work in residential construction.
Project FundaciĆ³n Culebra. The award contributes to the mission Culebra Foundation which is to know, protect and promote issues related to history, environment, culture and community in the island of Culebra. The mission has an educational and social base where knowing, protecting and promoting issues related to the island history and other areas helps the sense of worth in the community. In addition, it promotes knowing and protecting our precious natural resources so that they are conserved and used for the enjoyment of future generations.
Project CROEM in Villaba. With the funds awarded it continued providing the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) with fine arts programs in academia. Among several educational activities developed one of them gave the opportunity to develop the mechanical skills by constructing a robot while participants are able to compete in a robotic experiment at local level while interacting with students at other public schools in disadvantaged communities that had no access to technological equipment and materials. This is the second year that CROEM receives the award.
