Gabriel Institute

The Gabriel Institute, Inc has developed a micro drilling device for drilling through the inside of a 22g needle. This is being used in conjuction with radiation shielded microsyringes for the delivery of microliter quantities of short half-life beta emitting radioisotopes directly to tumors. At isotherapeutics group the treatment method and tools were first utilized on laboratory animals, sprague dawley rats, to prove that the isotopes remained in the injection site. Later laboratory rats with xenografted tumor cells were treated with the injection method to prove efficacy of the technique. After the successful rat results, treatment was begun on dogs with spontaneous bone tumors, first at isotherapeutics, then at the university of Missouri, and the Texas Institute for preclinical studies (Texas a&m).
