GB Cod Fixed Gear Sector represents a proactive group of small, dayboat fishermen on Cape Cod who voluntarily cooperate to manage annual fish allocations. The members agree to fish within sustainable limits, minimize the harvest of depleted stocks and instead focus on healthy ones such as monkfish, skates, dogfish and pollock. They successfully landed 17.32 million pounds of 51 different fish species without exceeding any allocation.

Program areas at GB Cod Fixed Gear Sector

The Sector did not exceed any of its allocations. It minimized the harvest of depleted stocks and instead focused on the harvest of healthy stocks such as monkfish, skates, dogfish and pollock. The Sector landed roughly 7.19 million pounds of 40 different fish and shellfish species during the 2022 fishing year (may 2022 through april 2023.)
